Orion Pax was a humble hauler stationed on Ariel Dock, overseeing the dangerous Rust Sea, who moonlighted as a data archivist under the watch of Alpha Trion. When Megatron's Decepticon legions took forceful control of the functionist council he joined his mentor Alpha Trion in the rebellion and in their darkest hour, upon contact with the Matrix still contained in the chest of the deceased Zeta Prime, became Optimus Prime, Cybertron's 13th Prime. He reluctantly but purposefully took control of the rebellion, now taking on the moniker of the Autobots, and lead them into the 3rd Cybertronian Civil War.

The war ravaged all four corners of Cybertron and, with great hesitance, Optimus chose to initiate Vector Sigma's regeneration protocol and force both Autobots and Decepticons off-world. The two factions scattered to the stars, with the predominant theatre of this stage of the war taking place on Earth and the solar system at large. It was here that Optimus would end the war, when Megatron fled into an exploding transwarp and was presumed MIA. This lead to the slow dissolution of the Decepticons from an organized militia to several splinter groups, the largest of which would surrender and officially end the war with the formation of the Pax Cybertronia. He would step down as military commander of the Autobots to return to Cybertron and rebuild society as it's spiritual leader. While in recent times of crisis after the war Optimus has been more than willing to step back into action he has predominantly taken his leave of combat and leading the Autobots directly, instead wielding the title of Prime as a head of the Pax Cybertronia, Cybertron's ruling government, and as a diplomat to other worlds.
